Ludwig Koberstein was married to Caroline Kapitski on December 24, 1837 in Germany. They came to America with their children in 1850-51, settling first in Newton, Marquette County, Wisconsin and later in Minnesota. Their daughter, Justine Koberstein Boelter, and her children were killed by Indians on August 18, 1862, the first day of the Dakota uprising. Ludwig died in 1907.
