Simon Frye Andrews, son of Abraham and Sarah (Frye) Andrews, born April 4, 1818, in Fryeburg, Maine. Married 1st, April 2, 1849, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Ophelia Howe, born September 5, 1824, in Waterford, Maine, daughter of Hon. Nathaniel and Mary (Chase) Howe. She died December 18, 1849, in Marshall, Illinois. He married 2nd, June 14, 1853, in Marshall, Illinois, Elizabeth Patton, daughter of David Dawson and Diana (Noland) Patton. He moved from Maine to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, thence to Marshall, Illinois, in 1850. Was a teacher for several years in Marshall, Ill. Was 2nd Lieutenant, Co. G, 123rd Illinois Volunteers; Presbyterian. Removed to Swan Lake, Dakota, in 1871, where he engaged in farming, and where he died May 24, 1887. She died September 15, 1897, in Parker, South Dakota. Children by second marriage, born in Marshall, Illinois: (1) William Andrews, born July 6, 1854; (2) Annie Andrews, born October 29, 1856; (3) Mary Andrews, born July 21, 1859; (4) Charles Edward Andrews, born August 7, 1861; and (5) Ophelia M. Andrews, born August 17, 1864.
