Franklin News-Herald, Monday, Jul 25 1932:
Fred William MacDonnell died at his home in Niles, OH, Saturday morning from hemorrhage caused by high blood pressure. He was born in Franklin January 22, 1878, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry MacDonnell.

A pulmotor was used in a futile effort to revive him. He seemed in good health the previous day, but late Friday evening, while driving an automobile, he became ill and summoned assistance. Mrs. MacDonnell, who was visiting relatives in Franklin, was notified, but could not arrive at the bedside while her husband was still alive. He lived in Niles the past 12 years, and for six years of that time, had served as a member of the City Council. He was in the plumbing business in Niles and was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Odd Fellows, and the Moose.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Harriet Scott MacDonnell; a son, Albert MacDonald; and a daughter, Mrs. A. Policy of Niles; six sisters, Mrs. Adeline Adams of Franklin, Mrs. Alice Welton of Denver, CO, Mrs. Gertrude Boyer of Franklin, Mrs. Anna Goodwill of Franklin, Mrs. Carrie Estes of Greeley, CO, and Mrs. Mabel Springer of Chicago; a brother, Ernest MacDonnell of Greeley, CO; a half-brother, Press Holland of Chicago; and a granddaughter, Delores Policy of Niles.

Services were held Monday at Niles, OH. The body was taken to Lamey Evangelical Church where further services were held in the afternoon, with committal in Lamey Cemetery, with Rev. L. H. Benson officiating.

Per Pennsylvania Marriage License, on Dec 25 1902 in Dempseytown, Fred William McDonnell of Polk, laborer, 24, son of H. A. and M. J. McDonnell, married Hattie Harriet Scott of Oakland Twp, 21, daughter of E. K. and Harriet Scott; first marriage for both.

In 1910 they lived in Fort Morgan, CO, where he worked building house; they returned to Franklin where he worked as a plumber, then moved to Niles, OH, in 1920 where he worked as a construction plumber. He died of a stroke.
