Linda Grace Streeper, 58, of Fredericksburg, Va., passed away Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at 1 a.m. EST. She was peaceful and happy as her mortal life ended at her home in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Va., with four of her children by her side.

Linda was born June 7, 1952, in Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, to the late Denis Howard Streeper and Sarah Lyle Rhodes Streeper of Ririe, Idaho. Linda was raised 20 years in Ririe, graduated from Ririe High School in 1970 and received her junior college degree from Ricks College. She lived her adult life in Pasco, Wash.; Livermore and Manteca, Calif.; Orem, Utah; Spring, Texas; and Fredericksburg.

She was married to Rodney Kay Lanning for 15 years and Edward Partridge Black for 13 years. She was employed by Ririe Produce, Prior Land, Boy Scouts of America, Manteca Courthouse, BYU, United First Mortgage, Main Street Title, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.

As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Linda served 30-plus years in Scouting and seven years as a stake librarian. Her greatest joy and accomplishment was seeing all six of her sons reach Eagle Scout and both her daughters receive their Young Women personal progress medallions, as well as having four sons serve full-time LDS church missions around the world.

Linda's favorite hobby was watching her children play any and all sports! She also loved road trips, plays, musicals and historical sites, particularly those on the East Coast.

She is survived by her brother, Gene (Pauline) Streeper of Ucon, Idaho; and her sisters, Nadine (the late Ed) Hemsley of St. Anthony and Sue (Emmett) Shippen of Menan, Idaho. Linda is also survived by her eight children, Brian (Janice) Lanning of Fredericksburg, David (Amber) Lanning of the Netherlands, Kristy (Shaun) Grover of Terreton, Idaho, Scott (Sheri) Lanning of Spring, Jason (Jenny) Lanning of Spring, Curtis (Samantha) Lanning of Montgomery, Texas, Lisa (Kevin) Dale of Livermore, and Brendan Black of Provo, Utah; 23 grandchildren; and three stepdaughters, Sara (Kevan) Lewis of San Clemente, Calif., Camille (Luis) Farias of Provo, Utah, and Emily (Brent) Gray of London, England.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce (Bob) Schneiter of Rexburg, Idaho.
