Sudden Attack Is Fatal To J. B. Osborn, Pioneer

While enroute to a San Francisco hospital, where he expected to undergo an operation for the removal of pressure from the brain, J. B. Osborn, aged 64, prominent Tehama county pioneer, suffered a sudden stroke last night at 8:40 o'clock while at the home of his sister Mrs. A. J. Wheeler of Corning, and died before a physician could reach his side.
Mr. and Mrs. Osborn had been making their home in Chico this winter and Thursday left by way of Red Bluff and Corning for San Francisco. Thursday night they were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Dolling in this city. They left here yesterday morning stopping at the Wheeler home, where Osborn suffered his fatal attack.
Deceased was born at Newville, Glenn county, and has lived in this section practically all his life. He resided in New York State for a brief period a number of years ago. For the past twenty-eight years deceased has been engaged in farming in Tehama county, his holdings being located in the Flournoy district.
Deceased leaves, besides his widow, six children, Mrs. Eunice Dyer, Henleyville, and Ashley, Joe, Ann, Marshall and Naomi Osborn, who live with their parents. The sixth child, Mrs. Selma Doane, of Elmira, New York, was by the first Mrs. Osborn.
Deceased also leaves seven brothers and five sisters, B. A. and E. D. Osborn, Mrs. F. D. Dolling, Mrs. J. A. Leveroney and Mrs. D. M. Hull of Red Bluff; Mrs. A. J. Wheeler , Corning; Mrs. Fred Oaks and J. J. Osborn, Lowrey; M. S. Osborn, Flournoy; A. H. Osborn, Stockton; S. H. Osborn, Oroville and J. M. Osborn, Oakland.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Jones chapel in Corning and burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery in this city. The Paskenta lodge of Odd Fellows will hold services at the grave. Six brothers of the deceased will act as pall bearers. - Transcribed by E.
