Lt. Donald Reid joined Company F of the 123rd, Regiment 4 NY Volunteer Infantry in Argyle in 1862. He fought throughout the Civil War to it's end. He kept a diary and later worked the McArthur-Reid farm in Cossayuna. After his first wife died he moved to Fort Morgan, CO with his second wife. He also lost 4 children to TB in NY and his son John T Reid had TB at the time of the move and died in Colorado. He was married first 1/12/1865 to Mary Ellen McEachron resulting in 5 children and second to Harriet Reid 1/18/1876 who had 4 more children. He lived 77 years. His last two sons became very successful in Colorado.
