Leipsic, Del. - Friends of the late Andrew Michael Slaughter, 58, of Leipsic, may call on the family beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where a remembrance service will be held at noon.
Mr. Slaughter died following a long battle with cancer Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at the Heartland Hospice Center, Wilmington.
Born Dec. 14, 1950, in Dover, he was the son of the late Andrew Thornton Slaughter, who died in 1977, and Betty Turner Slaughter, who died in 2009.
Mr. Slaughter served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973. He was a waterman, and enjoyed riding his bicycle around the town of Leipsic. He also was a member of the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Thornton "Buddy" Slaughter on March 21, 1983; and by a nephew, Janson Slaughter.
Mr. Slaughter is survived by a son, Jeremy Michael Slaughter of Dover; three brothers and their wives, Wesley J. and Kathy Slaughter of Garden Grove, Calif., James and Betty Slaughter of Florida, and George and Debra Slaughter of Harrington; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Martha Wilkinson of Leipsic, Becky Bedwell of Marydel, Md., Judith and William Ernst of Dover, and Debby Messina of Dover; 15 nieces and nephews; and 19 great-nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
