The date of death on the memorial is in error as evidenced by a death notice in the Raleigh Register, Sampson County estate files, 1835 deed distributing land to his heirs, and his absence in the 1830-1850 census records.

Thomas was a Capt in the NC Militia - War of 1812.
Was elected to the NC Senate in 1824, 1825, & 1826
Was elected to the NC House in 1821, 1822, 1827, 1828
Was elected Brig. Gen. of the 4th Brigade in Dec 1828.


Also father of Sarah Jane Boykin who married William J. Stevens & Louisa Boykin who married Carr Hargove and later John "Jack" Bell.
