Ora's parents, Charles Bonner Marsters and Catharine Thornburg were married 28 Sept. 1848 in Marshall Co., Indiana. Charles Bonner Marsters was born in Madison Co., Iowa. Charles and his family trekked to the West on The Oregon Trail, arriving in Lane county in 1852. He is listed in "1852 Emigrants on the Oregon Trail" written by Leah Menafee. This particular wagon train led by Elijah Elliott took a "short-cut" from Ft. Boise, cutting through the Malheur River area and arriving in Lane County after many difficulties. Wagon ruts from that wagon train cut through Leah Menafee's family property which led her to research their story. Charles took out a Donation Land Claim in Lane Co., Oregon Territory (DLC #361 Lane Co.).

Ora was born in Shasta Valley, Calif.
