Jerry D. Hobbs, 68, a longtime resident of The Dalles, died at the local hospital on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.
He was born in Gordon, Neb., on July 10, 1941, the third child of five children to Ralph E. and Geneva H. (Leach). He grew up in the Hood River Valley.
He married Ellen Ruth "Skip" Hausinger in Hood River on Oct. 10, 1958. He worked at the aluminum plant for 18 years, then at The Dalles School District 12 for 13 years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his wife, Skip. He also enjoyed the beach, computer games, quiet times with wife, playing pinochle with friends, motorcycling, boating and was a member of The Eagles club for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Skip Hobbs, The Dalles; daughter Julie Starr, Salem; son Todd Hobbs and wife Kellie, Central Point; grandchildren Amanda Starr, Breanna Starr and Preston Hobbs; brother, Pat Hobbs, Hood River; and sisters Wanda Marsh, Ginger Hobbs and Sheri Krieger.
Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with arrangements under the care of Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
A gathering will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Eagles Lodge
