This is my Paternal Grandmother:

Verna was born in Minneapolis, MN. where she was raised by her Swedish-immigrant parents. While on a family vacation at a nearby lake she met her future husband Clarence Pippin. She was the loving mother of four boys (one of whom, David, passed away at just 5 months old) and one daughter.

She was very active in her church and the Women's Missionary Union (WMU); a Christian organization of the Baptist Church. My Dad remembers the house being full of women, when my grandmother would host the meetings, and it would be a time of fellowship, laughter, and devotion to the Lord.

My grandmother was a gentle, soft-spoken lady who had a sense of humor & loved to laugh. I never heard her yell or lose her temper; and I never saw her angry.

The most difficult and heartbreaking experience of our family was when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. To watch as this woman whom I've only known as a sweet, loving, kind and gentle grandmother slowly starting to forget the most important part of her life was agonizing; but to see the hurt on my father's face when his own mother no longer recognized him as her son is indescribable.

Alzheimer's is a DEVASTATING disease that not only affects the person who is diagnosed but it also affects the entire family as they watch their loved one slowly "fade away."
This incurable, degenerative, and terminal disease affects one person every 70 seconds in America!! Hopefully, with more Awareness, Support and RESEARCH we can find a CURE to this Debilitating and Devastating disease!!!!

Verna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. I miss her every day, but I know that she is once again healthy, vibrant and LOVING every minute of her new Heavenly Home!!

Until We Meet AGAIN, Grandma!! I LOVE YOU!!

A Great Big THANK YOU to D C for sponsoring my Grandmother's memorial!!
