24 OTU's Armstrong Whitworth Whitley V (#Z9510) aircraft, with an aircrew of five, took off from RAF Marston for a day-time cross-country training flight. During the flight, the port engine burst into flames and, as a result, Z9510 crashed near Castle Eaton in Wiltshire and took the lives of the entire crew.

The airmen who perished in this accident were-
