James C. Vaden, 83, of Ashland City, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Centennial Medical Center in Ashland City.
Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. Burial was in the Welch Memorial Cemetery.
Born Aug. 5, 1918 to the late James Thomas and Della Rittenbury Vaden, he was a member of the Inglewood Baptist Church in Nashville.
He was a railroad engineer with the Tennessee Central Grand Trunk & Western, the Georgia Railroad, L & N Railroad and Seaboard.
Honorary pallbearers were children of Vaden’s brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Ray and a granddaughter, Anne Michelle Ray; two sisters, Gertie Garrett and Maggie Bohannon; six brothers, Hathan, J.T., Howard, Paul, Athie and Dewey Vaden.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lourene England Vaden, of Ashland City; one daughter/son-in-law (Mary Kathryn and Ron Cundall, of Pegram; one son and daughter-in-law, James Robert and Nancy Vaden, of Ashland City; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline Joy Marie Keltner and husband, Clay, Lisa Lynn Hudgins and husband, Terry, James Daniel Vaden, Dustin Ryan Gray, Kristin Michelle Gray, Robert Ryan Cundall, Jeffery Aaron Cundall and wife, Ali; three great-grandchildren, Chad Austin Hudgins, Brittany Jean Cundall and Austin Ryan Cundall; one sister, Agnes Buttram, of Monterey; loving dog, Gabrielle.
Goff Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
