Arthur G. Bird, 82, of Glenwood died March 5 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

He was born in Sioux City. He worked at Gibson's Produce and Stanley's Bowling as manager, retiring in 1983. He was a member of First Christian Church.

Mr. Bird and his wife, Auburn, were married in March 1940.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Reta Newman and husband, Gary, and DeAnn Northrop and husband, William, all of Glenwood; a son, Richard, and wife, Vicki, of Glenwood; three sisters, Alice Hobbs of LaMesa, Calif., Orma Budd of Camanche and Janice Holland of Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Orville Terry officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorial may be made to the Mills County Genealogical Society or the Glenwood Public Library.
