Celeste Josephine Thomson McDermott, of Charleston, widow of Creighton Walter McDermott, Jr., entered into eternal life October 6, 2010.
Born November 26, 1921, at Salters, SC, to Oscar Leonardus Thomson and Martha (Mattie) Viola Hair. Mrs. McDermott and her husband owned and operated W.W. Smith & Co. in Charleston for many years prior to their retirement. She was a family historian and did much of the genealogy research which the family now treasures.
She is survived by two sons; Michael Joseph McDermott and wife, Anne, and Richard Allan McDermott and wife, Pamela; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
Interment was in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
