Donald Albert Kindscher, the son of Albert J. and Rose (Wehrly) Kindscher, was born March 27, 1918 at Guide Rock, Nebraska. He departed this life on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 19 days.

In 1922, they moved to the family farm northeast of Guide Rock. Don received his certificate in normal training, graduating from the Guide Rock High School with the Class of 1935. He taught rural school for a period of time in Lincoln county (sic) around the North Platte area. A veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Army Air Corp. from 1942 - 1945. Following his discharge at war's end, he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he received his Bachelor's degree in 1948, and he earned his Master's degree in school administration from the University of Colorado in 1951. He was united in marriage with Charlene McCaleb on July 21, 1953 at Winfield, Kansas. Don was employed as principal with the Syracuse, Kansas school system until 1959. For the next twenty-one years he was an elementary school principal at Newton, Kansas, In 1980, they returned to the farm northeast of Guide Rock to make their home.

He was a member of the Guide Rock United Methodist Church and Rotary International.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Katherine Rose on March 30, 2002; and a sister, Georgia Binegar.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife Charlene of Guide Rock; sons, Brian Kindscher and wife Kim, and daughter Jessi of Guide Rock;and Kelly Kindscher and Maggie Riggs of Lawrence, Kansas; a sister, Rosemary Campbell and husband Gene of Doniphan, Nebraska; one brother, Jakie Kindscher and wife Elizabeth of Guide Rock; other relatives and many friends.
