Melva Beavers, 88, of Princeton, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at 8:15 a.m. at her home.

A retired grocery store owner, member of Fredonia First Baptist Church, who attended Goodsprings Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she was born Oct. 7, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Cora Haney Peek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Beavers; and a daughter, Doris Ray.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Cathy Beavers of Princeton; four grandchildren, Jewell Darnell and Charles Frank Beavers, both of Princeton, Jeanette Pyle of Franklin, Tenn., and Joe Dan Beavers of Louisville; four great-grandchildren, Jan Lowery of Calhoun, Ga., Jim Darnell of Danville, Eric Pyle and Danielle Pyle, both of Franklin, Tenn.; and a great-great-grandchild, Anna Darnell Lowery of Calhoun, Ga.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Richie McKinney will officiate.

Burial will follow in Norman Cemetery.
