Arlynn B. Olsen
Arlynn Thurston Brown Olsen died Saturday, March 25, on the eve of her 88th birthday, at the home of her daughter.
She was born March 26, 1912, in Hyde Park, Utah, a daughter of Simpson Benjamin and Rosabelle Follet Thurston. She is the last surviving child of 10. Her mother raised these children alone after the death of her husband when Arylnn was 18 months old.
She married Russell McCoy Brown on March 26, 1931, in Brigham City, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Hyrum during their married life where Russ farmed. They spent their summers in Pocatello Valley, Idaho. He died July 25, 1952, in Salt Lake City. Born to this union were three children: Mary Belle, Russell Ramon and Donna Zell.
Arlynn married Lloyd Oldham Olsen in the Logan LDS Temple on Oct. 15, 1958. They spent 35 wonderful years together in Paradise, Utah. He died peacefully on June 25, 1993.
She was active in the LDS Church, spending 25 years teaching Primary. She was a Relief Society visiting teacher until just recently and was always involved in compassionate service, caring for young and old alike - community, family and friends. She was also involved in the Farm Bureau and Lady Lions.
What lessons of endurance, patience and hard work were learned from her. Faced with hardships, she endured with grace and humility. What a wonderful example she has been. We'll miss her great sense of humor, her kind heart, her generosity and her unconditional love and acceptance. She'll be in our hearts forever!
Survivors include the following children: Mary Belle (Bill) Petersen, Logan, Russell Ramon (Kathy) Brown, Paradise, Donna Zell (Jerry) Welch, Paradise, Nelda Roskelly, Bountiful, John P. (Susanne) Olsen, Paradise, Dixie (Linc) Clifford, Orem, and Rosemary (Bill) Matthews, Lindon; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Pearl Merrill, Lillian Chambers, Zella Ault, and La Rae Roskelly; her brothers, Leo, Levere, Orion, Ollie and Ross; her two husbands; and grandson, Kurt Roi Welch.
Services will be held Wednesday at noon in the Paradise chapel, with Bishop David Thatcher conducting. Friends may attend a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Allen-Hall Mortuary or one hour prior to services at the church.
