Walter M. Cavanaugh, 80, of Elkview, died Sunday at home after a short illness. He was a member of Jarrett Memorial United Methodist Church, Elkview, and Moose Lodge. He was a was a retired employee of Diamond Shamrock. Surviving: son, Walter M. Jr. of Charleston; stepson, Donald W.Wiseman of Charleston; daughters, Frances Cavanaugh Smith of Charleston, Mrs. Debbie Boggs of Olathe, Kansas; stepdaughter, Phyllis Nidy of Frame; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview, with the Rev. Norvel D. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Ronceverte.
