Alvin died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edith Denner. He married Clara Jones who died several years before him. Alvin was engaged in the drug business in Canton and later he worked in the grocery business with his brother-in-law, William Donaldson, in the partnership, Aldrich and Donaldson. He was forced to retire due to poor health. He suffered greatly from arthritis and for many years was only able to move by means of a wheel chair.
