Thomas Sylvester Ash, 86, resident of Pemiscot county for many years, died last Friday, February 27, in a nursing home in St. Louis, when he had been since about the first of November, and funeral services were held at nine o'clock Monday morning at the Sacred Heart Church here. The Rev. Jos. H. Huels conducted the service and burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery, with LaForge Undertaking Company in charge.
Mr. Ash was born July 20, 1866, near Leopold, Ind., coming to this county when he was twenty years old. On October 10, 1899, at Holland, he was married to Bridget Fowler, who died three years later. In 1908 he was married to Stella Hayes and two children were born to them, both of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Ash passed away in 1940 and since that time he had made his home with his sisters, Mrs. Avis of this city and Mrs. Emma Harris of Steele. He is also survived by two other sisters, Mrs. Annie Stewart and Mrs. Sarah James, both living in Indiana.
