John Wesley Cothran, Sr. son of Edgar Cothran and Mary Louise Rudder Cothran, married Irma Farmer, dau. of Abner Joseph Estes Farmer and Lucy Jane Ferguson Farmer, on Nov. 15, 1922. They had 2 children: John Wesley, Jr. and Mary Eloise Cothran.

Irma F. Cothran remarried Raymond E. Childs, Oct. 31, 1958. Raymond E.(1903-1980) and Irma F. Childs (1900-1992) are buried in Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA Memorial #33928283

The Cothrans are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, (Nathalie, VA) the Methodist part, but the Methodist Church has been torn down. Clover Bottom Cemetery, the Baptist Church still stands. These graves are right on the line of the Methodist and Baptist cemeteries because Mary Louise Rudder Cothran and her sister, Eliza Rudder bought the plots together. One was Methodist and the other Baptist. In year 2001, As long as Eloise remembers there were always two churches, one Baptist (Clover Bottom) and one Methodist (Oak Grove). In those years there were Circuit preachers or ministers. The two churches would have Sunday Services in their own church. The Sunday the Baptist minister preached at Clover Bottom, the people from the Methodist Church would attend the Baptist Church service. The Sundays the Methodist Church minister would preach at Oak Grove the Baptists came to the services at Oak Grove. There were more Baptists than Methodists in that part of the country so that the Methodist Church attendance decreased and the church no longer existed. The cemeteries join each other at the back of the churches. The distance between the churches is about 75 yards. (ref. Mary Eloise Cothran Carter)
