J. M. Brown Dies Sunday; Rites Tuesday

Joseph Monroe Brown, 83, Athens, a former employee of the Knox Glass Co. at Palestine, died Sunday at 6:20 p.m. in Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
A native of Henderson County, Mr. Brown lived most of his life in the Bois D'Arc community in Anderson County. He moved to Athens three years ago.
He was a member of the Methodist church.

Services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Carroll Springs Methodist Church under the direction of the Hassell and Foster Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Carroll Springs.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The Rev. D. M. Chapman will be the officiating minister.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cora Welch Brown of Athens; one son, Alton Brown of Palestine; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Wardell of Palestine and
Mrs. W. J. Valentine of Athens; three brothers, W. J. Brown of Palestine, John H. Warren of Tyler, and Earl Lee Warren of Tyler; four sisters,
Mrs. Edith Price of Springfield, Mrs. Myrtle Thompson of Nacogdoches, Mrs. Irellene Bristow of Pearland and Mrs. Ethel Holt of Weatherford.
Also 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
