DEATH OF MRS. FREELAND.
Close of a Long Life of Christian Usefulness.
Not many of God's creatures on earth live to the ripe old age of 78. but this was the age of one of Charlotte's most estimable ladies, who has just passed away--that of Mrs. Elizabeth Freeland, who died at the home of her son, mr. P. T. Freeland, on North Caldwell street yesterday morning at 3 o'clock.
Mrs. Freeland, in her younger days, was one of the most influential Christian workers in the Methodist church. She was a most devoted member of the ... works in the Methodist Church and had been from her early girlhood. She has only two immediate descendents living. Mrs. Geo. S. Hall was her only daughter and Mr. Preston Freeland her only son, both of whom survive her. Mrs. Freeland was a sister of Revs. R. P. Troy and Thaddeus L. Troy, of Greensboro, and Messrs. John C. and Clarke Troy, of Fayetteville, and of Mrs. M. L. Patterson, of Liberty, N. C.
Mrs. Freeland had a wide circle of friends, all of whom loved her for her earnest Christian ways. Her every movement was God-like. She was truly a noble woman, who possessed many enviable traits of character.
The funeral will be conducted this morning at 10 o'clock from the Tryon Street Methodist church. Rev. Mr. Campbell, pastor of Brevard Street church, holding the service.
