History - Robert was baptized a member of the Church on 24 February 1850 at the age of 16. He and his family were very active in the branch for four years until they left for America. He was active in missionary work in England where he would walk to the surrounding area in all kinds of weather to help the Saints when needed. He distributed tracts and sang with his beautiful voice in the meetings and took part in many programs.

His wife, Ann, was baptized in 1851. She was expert in milinery work and dressmaking. She, too, had a lovely voice and they enjoyed singing together. They sailed for America on the ship "Cynosure" in 1855.

When they arrived in the Valley, Robert got work as a cooper. They were faithful to the Church. Robert held many positions in the church.

Ann died when she was 30 years old, after the birth of their son. Due to poor health and the care of small children, Robert married soon after Ann's death, but they were later divorced. He married once more to a Danish widow who had an adopted daughter.

In the fall of 1863, he moved his family to Logan where he built a cooper shop. He made wooden butter kegs, water buckets, washtubs, etc. In February 1867, after pouring dusty wheat into a bin, his lungs, already weakened previously, filled with dust and he started to cough, which started a severe hemorrhage. He died at the young age of 33.
