Sister Marie Coleman, who taught for 24 years in Catholic schools in Missouri and Texas, died Monday (July 11, 1994) of infirmities at Incarnate Word Hospital. She was 83.
Sister Coleman taught 11 years at Blessed Sacrament (now Bishop Healy) parochial school in north St. Louis between 1928 and 1955. She also taught at schools in Jefferson City and Macon, Mo., and in Amarillo, Pampa and Paris, Texas. She served in orphanages in Dallas and El Paso, Texas, that were operated by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
She was born and reared in Old Mines, Mo., and entered the order in 1925.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Marillac Provincial House, 7800 Natural Bridge Road in Normandy. Burial will be in the Incarnate Word Cemetery.
Among the survivors are three sisters, Gertrude Bourbon of Cadet, Mo.; Dolores O'Hanlan of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Anna William of Bloomsdale, Mo., and two brothers, Joseph Coleman of High Ridge and Vincent Coleman of Imperial.
