Baker, Clauda Carroll Born March 15, 1934 in Tyler Texas and passed away October 19, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband The Honorable James A. Baker. Clauda was the daughter of Allene and Perry B. Carroll and sister of Perry B. Carroll, Jr.
After moving from Tyler to Dallas as an infant, she grew up in the Park Cities and graduated from Highland Park High School. She attended SMU, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, graduating with a B. S. in Education.
On November 30, 1956, Clauda Jo Carroll married James Anthony Baker. They were life long residents of the Park Cities, except for the seven years they lived in Austin while Justice Baker served on the Texas Supreme Court. Clauda devoted her life to her husband, children, family and friends.
She was dedicated to her community, her church, and was committed in her service and support to the Republican Party. She was a former President of Park Cities Republican Women, member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas Lawyers Auxiliary, Dallas Country Club, Dallas Woman's Club, Dallas Garden Club, Village Review Club, and served as a Docent at the Governor's Mansion in Austin.
She had a love for travel, with her favorite retreat being the Baker cabin at Elk Creek Ranch in Colorado. She will be remembered for her strength, loyalty, zest for life and sense of humor. We will all miss her but take comfort that she has been reunited in heaven with her soul mate Jaim.
Clauda is survived by her 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren as well as many cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 @ 2pm in the Sanctuary of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas, TX 75205.
