WIlliam Cobb was a private in Co. F, 7th Tennessee Regiment and when they were overrun by the Confederates at the the Battle of Huntsville on August 13th 1862, he and many others escaped by swimming the river and hiding in the hills. William made it back to his home in Fentress County but died a few days later. He was only 16 years old.
