William Leander was the son of William E. and Amanda J. (Killingsworth) Williams. He married first Ada Ethyl Hardwick on Feb 13, 1870 in Arcola, Dade County, Missouri. They had nine children: Lauretta "Laura" Maud, Alfred Claud, Edward Cecil, Samuel C., Mary Alice, Iva Ann, Dessie Lee, Charlotte May "Lottie" and John Robert.
William was a carpenter and built at least one home in Miami, Indian Territory (now located in Ottawa County). Following the death of his first wife, William then married Ella F. Keeney. No children were born to the second union.
William Leander Williams is buried in an unmarked grave in the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma. The location of the grave is Block #20, Lot #2, Grave #1.
