A U.S. Army veteran, he had worked as a woodsman for most of his life. He was a bus driver for 13 years, worked for the B & A Railroad, was a caretaker for the Medford Housing Corporation and was a millwright and sawyer. A highly respected member of his community, he was a member of the Cold Brook Grange and a former sexton and fire warden for the town of Medford. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed fourwheeling, hunting and fishing and who will be remembered for his bean hole beans.
Lawrence was predeceased by a son, Larry. He is survived by four sons [redacted for privacy]; a daughter [redacted for privacy]; two brothers [redacted for privacy]; two sisters [redacted for privacy]. He leaves eight beloved grandchildren [redacted for privacy]; five treasured great-grandchildren [redacted for privacy].
Graveside memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at the family lot in Medford Center Cemetery, with his son, Raymond Boobar officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Lawrence and Virginia Boobar Scholarship Fund, care of Maine Savings Bank, P.O. Box 447, Milo, ME 04463. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo.
