He was a Methodist Circuit Rider. He farmed, had a large family, 12 children, and is mentioned twice in the Oklahoma Oral Histories. His wife died (in March), and after the burial it began to snow. He took a blanket across the road (they lived across the street from the cemetery) and laid it on her grave because "she hated to be cold."
He married Alversine (Alva) Henryetta (Retta) Laird 31 Oct 1872 in Freestone Co. TX.
