Ethel Lavera Hartzell, 81, Pleasant Hill, Mo., died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Golden Years Nursing Center in Harrisonville, Mo.
Mrs. Hartzell was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Kansas City, the daughter of Edward and Ethel (Wohlfahrt) Kelley. She had been employed by Dolly Madison Bakery for a number of years before she retired. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Orin Carter, Wilber Joslin and Kenneth Hartzell.
Her survivors include four daughters, Ethel Delilah Foster, Kingsville, Mo., Lucille Jean Higgins, Fort Collins, Colo., Ruth Leona Yazel, Lee's Summit, and Sandra Augustine Joslin, Kansas City; two sons, Tommy Ray Carter, Warrenton, Mo., and Eugene Lee Joslin, Independence; three sisters, May A. Proper, Beatrice M. "Patti" Smith, and Lorene E. Dickinson; 3 brothers, William C. Kelley, Arthur R. Kelley and Earl A. Kelley; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sni Mills Cemetery, south of Oak Grove. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
