A Celebration of Life service for Betty Lee Ellis, 83, of Lubbock will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 29, 2010 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date at Resthaven Memorial Park. Mrs. Ellis passed away on Saturday, Sept 25, 2010.
Betty was born on April 19, 1927 in Okmulgee, Okla. to Lee and Edra Stewart. She was raised in Dallas and graduated from Methodist School of Nursing. Betty was a dedicated nurse for over 35 years, with a majority of her service at Lubbock Methodist Hosptial. She volunteered at the VA Clinic for over 17 years. Betty was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She married J T Ellis in Dallas on January 22, 1949.
J T preceded her in death in 1991; and also her brother, Gerry Stewart.
Survivors include five children, Linda and husband Bob Rau of Garland, Karen and husband Gary Sullivan of Rowlett, Tom and wife Brenda Ellis of Lubbock, John Ellis of Round Rock, and JoAnn and husband Robert Keenan of Houston; one sister, JoAnn and husband Eddie Moore of Fairview; two sisters-in-law, Ann Ellis of Lubbock, and Shirley Ellis of Brownfield; grandchildren, Carrie and Chris Pyle, Cedrik Rau, Chad Sullivan, Karry and Truman Sears, Bliss and Patrick Knapp, Bonnie Ellis, Breanna Ellis, and Lee Ellis, Kim Sell, Susan and Matt Haynes, and Brandon Sell, Keely and James Torbert, Kara Keenan, Kasee and Dustin Johnson, Kelcee Keenan; great grandchildren, Ryder Pyle, Sullivan and Vada Sears, Valentina, Franziska, and Leonardo Knapp, Blaine Underferth, Zoee Johnson and Brayden Torbert; numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
The family suggests memorials to the Lubbock Children's Home, the DAV, or donor's favorite charity.
