Son of Alexander and Martha Brockington McCullough. Laurence married Margaret Oliver Strong on May 29, 1862.
Enlisted as a private in Company A, Tucker's Cavalry on June 20, 1862 at Georgetown as a substitute for ___ Kirby. He was assigned to Company B on April 8, 1863 and was on that roster when it became Company F, 7th SC Cavalry. Present June 1862 - April 1863; promoted 5th Sergeant May - June 1863; present May - August 30, 1863; absent sick August 30 - September 1863; present September 1863 - February 22, 1864; on detail guard duty at Georgetown February 22, 1864; promoted 4th Sergeant March - August 1864; present mounted March - October 1864; receipted for clothing with company November 30 and December 8, 1864.
The 1880 census shows Laurence living in Turkey, Williamsburg County married to Margaret with seven children: Alexander, Martha, Mary, John, Laurence, Franklin and Vermell. In 1900 he and Margaret are still in Turkey.
Laurence died on October 8, 1901. He's buried deep in the woods near Andrews, Georgetown County, South Carolina. It's impossible to locate without a guide.
