Kenneth W. Heft, 84, of Peoria died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Born Dec. 29, 1920, in Chicago to Henry and Florence Timmerman Heft, he married Dorothy Moeller on May 28, 1946, in Chicago. She died in September 1983 in Galesburg. He later married Pauline Phillps on Aug. 31, 1984, in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Kenneth Jr. (and Jamie) of Haughton, La., Stephen of Chillicothe and Jeffrey of West Peoria; one stepson, Timothy Phillips of Morton; two stepdaughters, Margo (and Joe) Yoder of Groveland and Twila (and Kim) Felker of Morton; two brothers, Henry and Lincoln (and Delores) Heft, both of Florida; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
He was an Army Air Forces veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a lifetime member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4999 in Chillicothe.
