There is a March 1838 record for his marriage to Mahala Lee Roberts in San Augustine County, Texas. It is currently assumed that he died (or disappeared) before 1846, which is when his wife is listed as Mahala Sharp on the 1846 poll lists for the Republic of Texas. A family historian says that he once had a marker in this cemetery, but there is no longer any evidence of the graves of the family of the original land owner.

Esther Biggers, a Hall family historian, said that she visited this cemetery with her father several years before his death in 1983 . . . and that at that time there were markers here for various members of the Hall family who originally owned the land where this cemetery is located . . . she later learned that those markers had disappeared . . . but was never able to determine what had happened to them.
