Mattie R. Roop, 89, formerly of Radford, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. Born in Floyd County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Brady Henry and Cumi Booth Reed, and the widow of William (Bill) H. Roop. She is survived by two daughters, Helen R. Linkous and husband, John, of Disputanta, and Jean R. Smith and husband, Jerry, of Radford; four grandchildren, Kim Penny and husband, Steve, Jodie Linkous and husband, Simon, Jill Thompson and husband, Kevin, and Sarah Hennings and husband, Geoff; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Beth, Katie, Kirstyn, Zachary and Angel; and a greatgreat granddaughter, Marleigh. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in Central United Methodist Church, 803 Wadsworth Street, Radford, Virginia 24141. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 3883 Alum Ridge Road NW, Floyd, Virginia 24091. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
