RECRUIT TRAINING

Pvt Benjamin Jones, son of Mr and Mrs George Jones, Moss Point, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif.

A 1976 graduate of Moss Point High School, he joined the Marines in August of 1976.

USMC Private First Class Jones was 1 of 24 (23 Marines and 1 Sailor) that were killed when their CH53, Jolly Green Giant, helicopter crashed during a joint U.S.-Philippines amphibious landing exercise on the Island of Mindaro, about 100 miles South of Manila.

He is represented on the Remembrance Rug by symbol #6264.
