The son of Daniel Martin and Sarah Ann Goskar Savage, John emigrated to the US in his late teens. He lived first in Fleming and, for the rest of his life, lived in Aurelius and Fosterville.
He and his wife owned and operated a farm on Fosterville Road in Aurelius for many years.

Obituary

John T. Martin, husband of Ellen Gable Martin of Fosterville, died early this morning at the City Hospital where he had been a patient for the past five days. Mr. Martin was prominent in the community where he had made his home for the past 21 years. He was born in England coming to this country 55 years ago settling in Fleming where he resided until the time of his marriage, his only other place of residence being in the vicinity of Aurelius and Fosterville.
Surviving besides his widow are three sons, Daniel G. and John Martin of Aurelius, Floyd Martin of Skaneateles; two daughters Mrs. John Bacon and Mrs. Clinton Paul of Aurelius; two sisters Mrs. L. B. Ward of Sennett and Mrs. Margaret Bullis of Watertown, N. Y., and one brother Joseph Martin of Melrose Road, Owasco. Also surviving are four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Throopsville Rural Cemetery.
