Lloyd Dixon Potter, son of Richard and Ollie Potter, was born at Jonesboro, Ark, May 16, 1897. In October the same year his parents and other relatives drove to Iowa in covered wagons and located on farms in Taylor county in the Siam vicinity. Here, Lloyd grew to manhood and lived the remainder of his life in Taylor and Page counties, except four year lived in Charles City, Ia. He entered military service in 1918, and served to the end of World War I.

On June 14, 1920, he was united in marriage to Ruth Wilson of Coin, Ia. To them were born four children, two sons and two daughters. One daughter, Thelma passed away in infancy. The other daughter is Mrs Lois Marie Turnbull of Clarinda, Ia; sons Kenneth of Omaha, Nebr, and James of Council Bluffs, Ia.

Mr Potter farmed for several years before moving to Clarinda in 1931. He served in the city police department for 16? years, retiring in 1960, due to failing health.

He joined the Siam Methodist Church in early life. Mrs Potter passed away July 20, 1959. One grandson, Kenneth Leroy Potter, passed away in 1942.

Besides his three children, he is survived by one brother and two sisters, Frank Potter, Bedford, Ia; Mrs W.O. Luden, Sheridan, Wyo, and Mrs Clita Jeffrey, Rockford, Ill; Also two grandsons, Larry Allen Wallace, Clarinda and Robert Lloyd Potter, Council Bluffs, Ia; and many other relatives and friends.
