IRA D. STEWART DIES

Ira D Stewart a well known pioneer of Morrlson creek passed away at the age of 64 at his homestead, June 21, after an illness of many months. He was born at Knightstown, Indiana May 6th, 1869. While yet a young boy of 12 he came to Colorado and on May 5th, 1892 was married to Edna Wheeler at Fountain, Colorado. Five children were born to this union, one of whom, Albert, died March 1931. In 1903 he moved his family to Morrison creek and homesteaded where he has since made his home. Those left to mourn are his wife, two sons Harry C. and Edward L. Stewart, two daughters Pearl E. Smith and Ruby J. Stewart, one brother Edward R. Stewart of California and one sister Mrs. Eliza Cox of Kansas. Mr. Stewart will be greatly missed by his many neighbors who have worked with him and shared the pleasures and hardships of pioneer life in the Morrison Creek district as well as a host of friends in the county.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 24 at the Hoskins chapel with A. W. Heyer in charge. Rev. Jackson gave a very touching sermon and Mrs. Jack Higdon accompanied by Mrs. Frances Laughlin on the organ sang "Higher Ground" "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere'' and "The old Rugged Cross." The pallbearers were all neighbors of the deceased and pioneers of the Morrison Creek district, and were George Crawford, M. J. Carpenter, Ralph Scott, Horace Sickles, Walter Whitney, P. J. Gardner, J. C. Cobb and Tom Miles.

Neighbors and friends extend to the bereaved ones their deepest sympathy in this sad hour. Interment was at the Oak Creek cemetery. Published in The Oak Creek Times, June 29, 1933, Page 1.
