George Rike Crumpler Sr., 92, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was retired as purchasing manager for Heckethorn Manufacturing and owner/operator of R&J Automotive Parts, a member of First United Methodist Church, a former lieutenant commander in the U.S Navy, PBY pilot and veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Dr. Phillip Cook and the Rev. Dossie Wheatley officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today at Curry Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Jordan Crumpler of Dyersburg; a daughter, Carol Lynn Story of Jackson; a son, George Rike Crumpler Jr. of Boone, N.C.; two sisters, Louise McDonald of Watkinsville, Ga., and Dot Fishburne of Quincey, Fla.; and three grandchildren, George Rike Crumpler III, Zachary Brian Story and Jacob Wyatt Story.

He was preceded in death by his parents, O.Z. and Mae Campbell Crumpler; and three sisters, Mary Burks, Frances Crenshaw and Katherine Cook.

Pallbearers will be George Cook, Lee Moore, Brian Story and Andy Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Ashley, Neil Dyer, Jack Haynes, Bill Kelly, Jack Todd, Dr. W.I. Thornton and the Vern Forcum Sunday school class.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to St. Jude Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
