GLASGOW — Ewell Gene McGowan, 71, Glasgow, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
A native of Russell County, he was a son of the late Elvis Lee and Susie Tucker McGowan. He was a former salesman at Gene's Auto Sales and a veteran with the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; one daughter: Ronna Dunham and husband, Michael, of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sons: Rhett McGowan and wife, Sylvia, of Chicago, and Chad McGowan and wife, Betty, of Glasgow; six grandchildren: Krista, Briana, Jessica, Kimberlee, Katrina and Cody; six great-grandchildren: Brenden, Jacob, Kelsey, Kaelynn, Graham and Benjamin; one sister: Jacqueline Bailey; three brothers: Desmond, Freddie and Frankie McGowan, all of Russell County; and several nieces and nephews, including Kristy Wade.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at Popplewell Cemetery in Russell County. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
