Lizzie Sampson Butler was born in Calhoun Co., WV the dau. of Floyd and Pricy Wayne Sampson. Lizzie and Roma Butler were first married 18 Sept. 1921 in Calhoun Co., WV by the Rev. A. P. Parsons. They were together for the 1930 & 1940 census of Calhoun Co. They divorced or otherwise separated; he was working as a coal mine electrician in 1940 in Boone Co., WV. Lizzie and Roma remarried in Roane County, 23 July 1949 by Rev. Levi T. Cottrell.
They had at least one daughter, Garnet Butler b. c-1928.
Roma was the son of Alexander and Dora Laughlin Butler.
