AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, February 20, 2007, Mrs. Edna Johnson Channell, 97, wife of the late Wales Alexander Channell. Mrs. Channell was a native of Boneville, GA and has resided in Augusta for the last 69 years. She was a homemaker, won the trophy for the oldest walker for the Augusta Urban Ministries Walk-a-thon and was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. She was a loving and tough mother. Family members include her children: Cliff Channell and wife Rita of Augusta, Evelyn Elko Moran of Hoptacong, NJ; grandchildren: Kate Channell, Jim Channell, Jerry Channell, Chuck Elko, Kelly Elko Menne and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 22, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary DeMore officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Channell, Jerry Channell, Philip R. Veazey, Charles R. Veazey, Sonny Joe Wheeler and Benny Cheek. Interment followed in Westover Memorial Park. Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
