A 4th Great-granddaughter of Captain James Campbell, of Scotland, Maryland, and Virginia, Mae was born at Potomac (now part of Alexandria). She was the 2nd of 4 daughters of Arthur Ford and Evelyn Moss Lyles CAMPBELL. On 20 Aug 1937 she married John W. Varney,III. She was the mother of John W. Varney,IV and Carol Ann Varney. She was a valued library employee at Northern Virginia Community College, and long-time Member of Del Ray United Methodist Church. Mae was the beloved friend of Jerry Thornton. Mae enjoyed reading, and she gave generously of her self and her many gifts to those she loved, and those in need.
