Calvin Edward Pratt

Civil War Union Brigadier General. Born in Princeton, Massachusetts, he admitted to the bar in 1852 and practiced law in New York City. With the advent of the Civil War, he raised the 1st Regiment of New York Volunteers and was elected Colonel. He led his regiment at the first Battle of Bull Run and the second Battle of Bull Run. After the Battle of Antietam, he was promoted Brigadier General in September 1862 and commanded corps until he resigned on April 25, 1863. After the war he held the post of collector of Internal Revenue in the Brooklyn district and served as judge for the supreme court of the State of New York, 1869 to 1891. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
