Mr. Bittle was a retired farmer born in Adams County a son of the late Amos and Mary Palmer Bittle.
He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ and Sunday School, near Littlestown.
Surviving, besides his wife, are five children, Elmer R. Bittle, Littlestown; Mrs. Dorothy L. Smith, Littlestown R. 2; Mrs. Freda B. Ganske, Sykesville, Md.; Mrs. Phyllis Baumgardner, at whose home he died, and Mrs. Anna J. Crabill, New Oxford R. 2; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a brother, Samuel A. Bittle, Littlestown R. 1.
Burial in Christ church cemetery.
