---James Gunnels died at the Macon County Rest Home in Macon Friday morning.
---Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1 at the McCollum Funeral Home in south Gifford conducted by Rev. Clyde McCollum. Burial was in Chariton Grove Cemetery east of South Gifford.
---He was born in Macon County February 28, 1885, the son of Levi and Maggie (Carter) Gunnels.
---Surviving are two brothers, Harrison of Elmer and Jesse of La Plata; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Scott of St. Louis, Mrs. Susie (Fred) Easley of Mason City, Iowa and Mrs. Nancy Bellmyer of Elmer and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
---Preceding him were his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
---He was a member of the Baptist Church.
