MRS. ANNA M. MACK, AGED HAXTUN RESIDENT, PASSED
AWAY JAN. 18; BURIAL HERE.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Immanuel Lutheran church for Mrs. Anna M. Mack, age 82, who passed away Saturday following a two-month illness.
Mrs. mack had lived in the Paoli and Haxtun communities since 1919 when she and her family moved from Nebraska to Colorado. Her first husband, John Weers, passed away in 1911, and in 1918 she was married at Johnson, Nebr. to Charles Mack, who survives her.
Mrs. Mack was a member of the Immanuel church and it's pastor, Rev. A. C.Esch, was in charge of the services. Burial was made in the Haxtun cemetery.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Ernest Bailey, pianist, and a quartet composed of William Funke, Harold Ruch, Ben Burmester and Walter Hovel. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Hovel, L.F. Einspahr, Fred Reyher, Robert Kurtzer, Jacob Pope and Henry Trute. Acting pallbearers were George Weers, Edgar Weers, Roy Weers, Ernest Weers, John Weers, and Donald Wehmer.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Mack is survived by six children, Ernest and John Weers of Haxtun, George Weers of Fort Collins, Mrs. Etta Wehmer of Sterling, Roy Weers of Holyoke and Edgar Weers of Vernango, Nebr. Also two brothers John Foss of Greenfield, Mo., Theo. Foss of Corvallis, Ore., and one sister, Mrs. Etta Agena, of Sterling, Nebr.
The following obituary was read at the services:
"Mrs. Anna Margaretha Mack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clause Foss, was born on March 8, 1870, in Benton Tr., Nemaha County, Nebr., and was called to her heavenly home January 17 in the local hospital and thus lived to the ripe old age of 82 years, 10 months and five days. --
"She was baptized in the Lutheran church in early infancy and confirmed in the same church in 1888.
"On February 18, 1892 (?) she entered the state of holy wedlock with Mr. John Weers. This union was blessed with 10 children; four of whom preceded their Mother into eternity. Her husband passed to his home above on May 13, 1911.
"On July 7, 1918 she entered into a second marriage with Mr. Charles G. Mack.
"In the spring of 1919 the family moved from Johnson County, Nebraska to a farm south of Paoli where Mrs. Mack made her home until 1941 when she moved to Haxtun.
"Mrs. Mack became a community member of Immanuel Lutheran church, Haxtun, a few years after it was founded. She was also a charter member of the Ladies Aid until failing health compelled her to be almost completely confined to her home. After years of illness and suffering, during which she was always a faithful listener of the Lutheran Hour broadcast, the Lord of all grace and mercy called her to Himself, where she is now seeing what she had always believed.
Near relatives surviving her death are her husband, Charles G. Mack, five sons and one daughter: George Weers of Fort Collins; Mrs. Etta Wehmer, Sterling, Edgar Weers, Vernango, Nebr., Roy Weers, Holyoke; Ernest Weers and John Weers, both of Haxtun; two brothers and one sister; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends."
